I bought Remove ads (or the Starter Bundle). How do I get it on a new phone?
Open Settings in the game and tap Restore purchases, using the same Apple ID (or Google account) you bought it with. Your unspent lamp oil comes back with your progress from iCloud; packs already bought are never added a second time.
Is Bible Chess the same game as Covenant Chess?
Yes. Covenant Chess was renamed Bible Chess in October 2026. It is the same app, so your progress, lamp oil and purchases stay as they are and nothing needs to be done.
How do ads work in Bible Chess?
There are no ads in the first levels. After that, now and then there's an ad between levels, never in your first couple of minutes of play, never right after another one and never during a puzzle. Remove ads stops them for good. You can also choose to watch a short ad for lamp oil a few times a day.
Will I lose my progress if I delete the app?
No, on iPhone. Your progress is also saved in your iCloud, so when you install Bible Chess again (or on a new iPhone with the same Apple ID) it comes back by itself within a few seconds. This needs iCloud turned on for the app (iOS Settings → your name → iCloud). On Android, a backup of your phone brings it back when you restore that backup.
A world is locked. How do I open it?
Worlds open one after another: finish the world before it, and the next one opens.
I'm stuck on a puzzle.
Tap the lamp for a hint; it uses one lamp oil. You earn oil by winning with all three crowns (from Exodus on), from the Daily Puzzle and by finishing a world; free oil fills the lamp up to 15, and oil packs always go on top. When you run low, tap the oil on the Home screen to watch a short ad for more or to buy a pack. Undo takes back your last move. Every puzzle has a forced checkmate, and any move that keeps it counts.
Can I skip a level?
Yes. After a few tries that don't work out, Skip this level appears under the message: it costs 5 lamp oil, counts the level as solved with one crown, and opens the next one. You can come back any time for all three crowns.
I missed a day of the Daily Puzzle. Is my streak gone?
Not yet. Open the Daily Puzzle the next day and you can keep your streak for 3 lamp oil or by watching a short ad. After two missed days the streak starts again.
How do I turn the daily reminder on or off?
In the game: Settings → Notifications → Daily puzzle reminder. It's an evening note, only on days you haven't played the Daily Puzzle yet. If iOS doesn't let it switch on, allow notifications for Bible Chess in iOS Settings → Notifications.
How do I change my ad privacy choices?
In the EU, UK and Switzerland: Settings in the game → Privacy choices. On iPhone, iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking controls whether Bible Chess may use your advertising identifier.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple or Google. On iPhone, request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android, through Google Play.
Which Bible translation do the verses use?
The World English Bible (WEB), a public-domain translation. Each verse is quoted word for word.
