These are the hardest checkmates in Bible Chess, each rated 1800 or higher. The first move is usually the one you would dismiss at first: a quiet move, a retreat or a sacrifice.
Give each one a few honest minutes before you open the answer. Then play through the whole line, defences included.
The side to move is at the bottom of each board. White’s pieces are gold and Black’s are stone, drawn as the biblical figures of Bible Chess: the queen is a Judge, the rook a Tower, the bishop a Prophet, the knight a Scout and the pawns are Shepherds.
